Session 06: SUPERCAPACITORS

Supercapacitors, including electrical double layer capacitors and pseudocapacitors, are a rising star on the horizon of energy storage devices and have received a great deal of attention in recent years due to their advantageous properties, such as long service life and fast charge-discharge processes. The design, development and application of supercapacitors principally rely on the understanding of energy storage mechanism, the nature of the electrolyte/electrode materials, and the adoption of advanced micro/nano technologies.

The purpose of this session is to bring together theoretical, modeling and experimental scientists and experts working on various aspects of supercapacitors to exchange their recent progresses/ideas and discuss future directions. In this session, the topics will include, but are not limited to:

1. Synthesis, property, and functional studies of electrodes
2. Aqueous electrolytes, organic electrolytes, ionic liquids, and composite electrolytes
3. Novel liquid solvents and nanostructured electrode materials
4. Modeling and computational investigations for supercapacitors
5. Electrochemical interfaces between electrolytes and electrodes
6. Ion transport in electrolytes and at electrolyte-electrode interfaces
